Review of Bride Flight (2008) by Gary S — 24 Jul 2011
Set in post-WWII, three beautiful young Dutch women fly to New Zealand to marry and start new lives in a new world. Changing locations doesn't change the past, however, as we see unfold in various ways through the ups and downs of Esther, Marjorie and Ada, who remain friends despite very different lifestyles.
Ada's story is perhaps the most poignant, as she honors her commitment to marry a distant, religious man despite having fallen in love with an exciting young winemaker she met on-board her "Bride Flight".
Though a bit long, "Bride Flight" (in subtitles) is a lovely, period romance with sweeping scenery and interesting characters.
