Review of Bride & Prejudice (2004) by An N — 15 Jan 2011
I am too much a fan of the original brilliance of Austin to really appreciate this quirky updated version of the classic. The injection of the modern diminished this timeless story in a way that I found to be irritating and distracting.
The story seemed to be dumbed down too much and key elements ignored or glossed over loosing some of the original magic. I did however enjoy the fun and colour of this movie - the dancing and the costumes.
And I did enjoy the setting (India) very much. I still prefer the original over this version.
