Review of Brick Mansions (2014) by Steven B — 27 Apr 2014
I wanted to give this a one or two star rating but my son and a friend both said they thought it was better than that, so there you go. I think this was forced into release after the star's (Paul Walker) untimely death.
It is mostly a lot of running around, jumping over things, shooting (no one seems to ever get hit?) and general mayhem. The plot is about the attempt of the Mayor of Detroit to eliminate poor folks (why is Hollywood always hating on Detroit?) with a neutron bomb.
. .ok by now you can see the problem I suspect. Anyway David Belle is the world's best parquer or parkor runner/jumper and that is fun to watch. Catalina Denis is way pretty. There were about 200 hypermuscled thugs which made me wonder where do they find these guys? 'Thugs R' Us'? If you want to sit and not think for a couple of hours it's a good bet but not much else.
Paul Walker rest in peace.
