Review of Brick Mansions (2014) by Grant H — 13 Jan 2015
I don't know much about Paul Walker but if I am going to remember him by, this is NOT the film to do it. I will say without any hesitation that the film HOURS where Walker plays the role of a father struggling to keep his infant daughter alive in the wake of Hurricane Katrina IS the film I will remember him by.
Gave me chills, moved me to tears and HOURS embodies the triumph of the human spirit against all odds. Brick Mansions, on the other hand, is mainly a film about class warfare, and how a city mayor wants to clean up the brick mansions (ghetto) at any cost.
Paul Walker plays Detroit cop Damien Collier who battles corruption and is sent to brick mansions in order to detonate a bomb and capture a drug kingpin named Tremaine (RZA). One guy named Lino does incredible physical stunts and joins Damien in breaking into the brick mansions to save his ex-girlfriend that was kidnapped by Tremaine.
Overall I found the whole concept ludicrous so steer clear of this one.
