Review of Brick Mansions (2014) by Hunter H — 26 Oct 2015
I handle what needs handling.
A section of Detroit known as Brick Mansion has a wall built around it to keep all inhabitants locked inside because things became too unruly. Rumors of a drug lord getting his hands on weapons of mass destruction and more drugs than you can imagine emerge and a special task force begin taking down his drug dealers. An undercover cop is sent to work with a vigilante of sorts to bring down the drug kingpin.
"I prefer to be free.".
Camille Delamaree, director of Transporter 3, Colombiana, Taken 2, Lockout, and 22 Bullets, delivers Brick Mansions. The storyline and overall premise of this movie was a remake of the French film District B13. The action and acting was just okay. The cast includes Paul Walker, David Balle, RZA, and Gouchy Boy.
"You can never trust easy.".
I came across this on Netflix and had no idea this was a remake of District B13. This was very disappointing and a huge step down from the original which was a new age martial arts classic. I recommend skipping this and seeing the original.
"Never call my cell phone again.".
Grade: C-.
