Review of Brick Mansions (2014) by Sol C — 05 May 2014
This film took me by surprise. From the trailer, my expectations were very low. After watching the film, I was pleasantly blown away by it. The film reminded me of movies like Escape From NY, Robocop, New Jack City, Trespass, and The Warriors. The style of the film reminded me a lot of Walter HIll's style. It fast paced and gets the audience completely into the action on screen.
The action scenes are very good. David Belle shines here. He does some incredible fight scenes. In a weird way, he kind of reminded me of Jackie Chan, in terms of fighting and movement. He does have a great on screen chemistry with Walker. In addition, the music in the film is also good too.
Walker is good here, but it is really Belle's film. RZA is very good here. He kind of reminded me a little of Wesley Snipes character in New Jack City.
I definitely recommend this film. Very entertaining.
