Review of Brick Mansions (2014) by Robert M — 17 Jan 2015
IF YOU LOVE B MOVIES-------This one is so awesome for all the wrong reasons, cheesy plotline, terrible acting, cliché lines and action sequences. Only the best rapper/actors could be considered to tackle such a pivotal role.
JA Rule would be in over his head, no this role required more of a DMX in Exit Wounds type performance and RZA does not disappoint. During one excessively long action sequence, much like when I jump over a piece of trash I felt the need to yell "parkour" at all the appropriate freeze frames.
Its as if the director instinctively placed this silent soundtrack in the film for your enjoyment and that is just the first 5 minutes. A la MST3K, I enjoy imagining the directors commentary to great films like this and I can just imagine -RIP Paul Walker- saying "It was like when I read the script for Fast & Furious, it wasn't just some action movie it really said something, you know, it was about the racing too.
That's what this movie is, its like a social commentary about "Parkour"" Another absolute gem enjoy.
