Review of Brick (2006) by Tristan D — 10 Nov 2010
By far my favorite Neo-noir. I enjoy solid plot development, and interesting characters. However, concrete form and content do not always suffice. There is a third factor, style. This film had a unique style that was not too overbearing.
The classical noir form/content fit into a contemporary high school setting added a style that enthralled me and did more than held my interested. It used every aspect of the classical film noir and improved on it with it's pacing.
In all, Brick is a slick neo noir that is guaranteed to deliver a classical thrill with a contemporary twist.
