Review of Brewster McCloud (1971) by Stephen O — 23 Jan 2008
A loopy, hilarious journey of man's aching desire for flight. Our fatal flaw, of course, is that we are not birds, nor will we ever be. That doesn' t stop Altman from having a great time with bird metaphors, from OWL license plates to bird droppings from above.
The climax inside the Houston Astrodome is a delightful heartbreak. Bud Cort shines in what I feel is his best role next to "Harold and Maude." Also starring a coltish Shelley Duvall and the gorgeous Sally Kellerman.
