Review of Breaking and Entering (2006) by Zoe G — 23 Mar 2008
How sweet it must be to live a life without consequences. A burglar, a cheating partner and a blackmailer all get away with no comeback and everyone seems as flat and emotionally uninvolved at the end as they did at the start.
To his credit, Minghella did manage to get some good performances from the majority of the cast (Winstone and Binoche put in performances of particular note), but Jude Law crushes the potential for raw emotion in the most touching of scenes with a total lack of depth bordering on recitation.
It tries to be the British version of "Crash" and fails dismally.
