Review of Breakin' (1984) by Tedmund A — 15 Jun 2010
Yes the acting and cinematography "suck" . . . the acting's wooden, and the cinematography has too much head-room, and the film-stock is blurry.
BREAKIN may have been waaaay corny when I was 12 in 1984 but now: BREAKIN is CLASSIC!!!!
TURBO, OZONE, and SPECIAL "K" and ICE-T.
ROCK-IT all through the movie.
The "street dancers" really end-up STICKIN' IT TO The Man (i.e. THE STSTEM [i.e. professional, stuck-up dancers]).
BREAKIN reminded me tonight that, even when people look down on you, you're still AWESOME and can WIN!!!
no matter what The Man says about you, YOU CAN WIN!!!!
The so-called "street kids" even have a kid with no legs (a paraplegic) DANCING with crutches:
Anyone can MAKE IT!!!
And anyone can WIN!!!!
(you don't have to be a super-rich, artsy-fartsy creep to be considered "valid" in everything you do).
