Review of Breakfast on Pluto (2005) by Katie M — 06 Jan 2008
Cillian Murphy is intriguing in the role of Patrick 'Kitten' Braden, he felt really authentic to me - there's a certain artifice to the act of being yourself, I think, for transvestites, and he gets that down.
The film's sort of a mess in terms of plotting and editing, which seems to be more the fault of the book-to-screen adaptation than the performances or camera work. It's hard to tell sometimes where you are and how you got there.
It's a very interesting and engaging story, though, and there are some very powerful scenes. I saw it as more of a story of resilience than anything else.
