Review of Brave (2012) by Cemal G — 18 Aug 2013
Brave is the next installment in Disney/Pixar's line of animated films, but is it better than Cars or Cars 2? Brave is about Merida, a skilled archer and daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. She wants to be free of her life, but her mother forces her into being an actual princess, she gets to annoyed to the fact that she runs away, finds a witch, ask the witch to change her fate.
The witch tells her to give her mom a blueberry cupcake that turns her mom into a bear. Now, she must bond with her mother in order for her to turn back to normal before she embraces the bear side of her (no pun intended).
Now, I really liked Merida, she was funny and she was quick on her feet. Plus, I liked seeing her character change throughout the film along with her mother. Fergus, however, stole the show. I laughed at every bit that he was in.
The scenery is another reason why you should see Brave. This is a BEAUTIFUL movie. From the kingdom to the mountains, from the mountains to the trees, Pixar really knows how to create a beautiful-looking world.
The first half was really enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately, the same can NOT be said for the second half. I found the second half a bit predictable. Other than that, I thought Brave was an enjoyable film.
It is not a classic like Toy Story, Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo, or the Incredibles. I am going to give this film a 4 out of 5, it is definitely a must see. Let's just hope that Pixar gets started with Incredibles 2.
