Review of Brave (2012) by Asher K — 08 Sep 2013
It is amazing to see how far animation has developed, to the point where the scenery looks like live action shots (particularly impressive is the realism of water animation). This picture made the best use of this technology of any animation movie to date and was, in a word, beautiful.
I cannot have been the only one who saw the mother as the hero of this story. Merida is a classic example of teenage rebellion and denial of responsibility, and is not all that likable as the protagonist. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however, as it gives the movie a depth. 'Brave' keeps the laughs rolling, dazzles visually, and does just enough with the plot to be an enormously successful and entertaining film.
