Review of Branded to Kill (1967) by Derek W — 29 Aug 2008
Hilarious, Bizarre, Brilliant, and somewhat disturbing...Suzuki's Branded to Kill is a comedic deconstruction of the yakuza film that still adheres faithfully to the genre's conventions. It is a treasure for fans of crime and noir cinema, japanese film, or yakuza film enthusiasts.
I agree with some of the below criticisms that the film loses some of its power in the second half, but this section of the film contains its own kind of brilliance.
