Review of Brainscan (1994) by Aaron D — 15 Apr 2008
If we call it 'not something to be taken too seriously' then it's reasonably enjoyable, and not just because of Furlong, who is one of the greatest things in the world. This sort-of horror movie tells the story of monster movie maniac Michael who comes across an interactive video game which allows him to carry out violent murders, but of course after the first murder, he discovers that the victim was real, and that he was now dead.
It's not far off some ideas in 'Stay Alive' and there are even some hints of 'Saw' and apart from the idiotic villain 'Trickster', the characters are a lot of fun and Furlong is fucking legendary.
The soundtrack is fantastic as well, but still it's a pretty silly film and three stars is perhaps generous...
