Review of Brain on Fire (2017) by Ken C — 21 Mar 2018
A great performance from Chloe Grace Moretz as she traces the real-life descent of Susannah Callahan into catatonia. Her obvious confusion and despair, interspersed with moments of mania, are sometimes painful to watch - all the more when you remember this is a true story, happening only a few years ago, and only three years after her condition was first identified.
Things could have gone so differently. An important story that had to be told and so encouraging to hear that many more of these cases are now being diagnosed and successfully treated where before sufferers may have simply been institutionalised for life.
