Review of Bra Boys (2007) by Nat J — 08 Oct 2007
To be honest, is not a technological masterpiece with poor cinematography skills and sound problems; but on the other hand the content is quiet a shock packed with violence, coarse language, crime, murder charges, their running battles with the authorities and their many impacts of little family reference in their lives. But thatâ??s not all; is also filled with the passion and the sport that makes them sane â?? Surfing!
The doco uses archival footage and blends it with current surf scenes; adding interviews with members of the gang and letting us find out more on the leaders and promoters of the group (the Abberton family), allowing us to get more involved in their private struggles as a family or simply explaining their gang rituals and beliefs, which frankly without the family input I donâ??t think they would have had the same result in the content of the film.
