The title doesn't refer only to the heroes of this extraordinary film but to the audience,too. Realism dominates and you can't ignore the fright you feel during the whole movie for the heroes. You become one of the boyz in the hood although you don't want to.
A great story about black people not many years back and their problems trying to fit and survive in a shitty society.
