Review of Boyz n the Hood (1991) by Keaton B — 05 Jul 2014
"Either they don't know, don't show, or don't care about what's going on in the hood.".
It's a deeply compelling study on the class struggle in South Central Los Angeles, vilified in the mainstream media thanks to the N.W.A.'s (Ice Cube, who appeared in his first movie as Doughboy, gained national prominence and controversy as the primary MC for the N.W.A.) brazen gesture against police brutality: "Fuck The Police".
This is truly among the greatest movies ever, and I'm glad I had the honor of watching this, albeit twenty-three years too soon.
