Review of Boyz n the Hood (1991) by Matthew F. J — 31 Jul 2014
An amazing chronicle of the lives of a group of friends that grow up together in the Hood of south Central Los angeles. For Tre and his father Furious, it's all about doing the right thing, working hard and make something out of their lives.
For Doughboy though it's all about going in and out of jail committing petty crimes and running with his gang doing nothing but drinking and selling rock. Their lives takes different path but their friendship even though tested by time and unfortunate events remain strong.
It's the film of a generation and an era. I wish they would make more films like this one and stop producing dumb ass comedies instead. Brain over violence.
