Review of Boyz n the Hood (1991) by Sarfaraz A — 03 Feb 2012

I was stunned when I read that John Singleton was 23 years old, when he directed this wonderful gangster film, and received an Oscar-nomination as Best Director. Every actor in the film realizes the importance of roles they are playing, the cast includes: Laurence Fishburne (as Furious Styles, father of Tre Styles), Ice Cube (as Doughboy brother of Tre Styles' friend), and Cuba Gooding Jr. as (Tre Styles central character).

Script of film is written with hard-work. Each character is given a sound background-story, that is what shines film's beauty, it enables the film to reach out to us and to give our own imagination about the characters. Laurence Fishburne and Ice Cube have given excellent performances. Of all the scenes in the movie, it was rather murkier to find out the end that Doughboy faces in the climax.
