Boyhood just didn't work for me. I don't get the whole fuss about the whole filming over 12 years, because I can't believe they couldn't have come up with a better story for this boy in the twelve year time span they had! The story follows a boy's life with his mom and sometimes with his divorced dad as they just go around the place looking for a new person to cal daddy.

The story has no true conflict and what makes it worse is the fact that they tried to add the conflict with all the abusive dads, bills falling over their heads, and just general family troubles that I could care less about.

I also don't understand the internal conflict going inside of mason. Many of things he says as a teen just fly over my head because they don't make the least bit of sense. Also the natural aging just doesn't make a difference to me.

I bet they would look exactly the same if they used some software, make-up, or different actors to show off the age. Also the end was one of the worst in movie history for me. He enters college, goes out hiking with some strangers and just sits and says some line, and then it ends.

I mean I know it called Boy-Hood, but they couldn't have found a better spot than just his family STILL in the middle of poverty and just entering the next big step of his life that would have been way more interesting than his boy-hood.

I would not recommend this, because of the unfocused and uninteresting plot, and the fact the aging makes no difference. I know others see the aging as a huge difference, but I don't.
