Review of Boyhood (2014) by Lukas R — 08 May 2015
Boyhood is, by far, my favorite film of 2014. It's similar to movies like "Stand By Me" in the sense that everyone can relate to it. And while its about 20 minutes too long (Mason Sr.'s speech at the bar or Mason's drive to college would have made for a much better ending) and it can be boring at times, it uses it to its advantage.
If it had big, outlandish moments, it wouldn't feel as relateble, thus losing its premise all together. Boyhood is the story of the every-kid. And I couldn't be happier to see a movie like this, a movie that tells a real, natural story, to finally become a reality.
