Review of Boyhood (2014) by Ryan D — 30 Mar 2015
Very slow pace. But, I guess that's the idea when you take twelve years to shoot a movie. There is drama, but it's far from over the top, and there are a few laughs, but it's definitely not a comedy.
Boyhood is as much about motherhood, sisterhood, and friendship as what the title suggests. Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette are very good. The kids are pretty solid, too. If you can handle the slow pace, it's a pretty good, honest look at life's quirks and challenges.
The fact that we get to watch the characters actually age adds an unprecedented authenticity that's worth the rental, alone.
