Review of Boxing Helena (1993) by Heather M — 25 Nov 2007
Actually this is terrible. Really really bad. But what's interesting is:
1. Watching Lynch's daughter struggle through material dealing with immobility, inadequacy, rejection, etc.
2. Watching what this movie does with the brutalization of the female form. It's ambivalent about it--as if the dismembered female body (literal and metaphorical) were a thing in itself and not lacking, not a degraded object produced by the desire of others?
I'll let you know when I work it out, but until then: DON'T SLEEP WITH EFFEMINATE VAGUELY EUROPEAN MEN.
They're all crazy.
