Review of Bounce (2000) by Mikhail B — 21 Apr 2012
A PR company manager and a playboy (Ben Affleck) exchanges the tickets with a theatre play director who is in a hurry to meet his wife and children. The plane crashes and the director dies causing the PR guy to start drinking; as he completes alcohol addiction rehabilitation programme, he leaves off to meet the wife and the orphaned children just to see if they are ok, and falls in love with the widow.
They both lie to each other about their past, but later accept the news about their real identities and reasons why they met surprisingly calmly. After he commits a number of corporate crimes and gets fired, they start a happily-ever-after story.
The script is psychologically untrue and immoral. And there couldn't be a worse candidate to the protagonist's role than Ben Affleck: while the script demanded a remorseful romantic with a fragile psychological organisation, we have a dumb lustful stallion humping every woman he meets.
Still, Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow are so pretty that it's interesting to observe them just for the aesthetic reasons.
