Review of Bottle Shock (2008) by Gregory L — 01 Mar 2009
Okay I admit it. I downloaded this movie illegally having waited for months for the release in theatre. I realized there will never be a European release in theatre since it has been released on DVD in the USA. I've been very angry because of this fact, moreover because people who were lucky to see it in theatre were telling me about how worthless this flick is and how few people were in theatre.
So this is another main role for Alan Rickman based on a true story. It should have been very interesting but it wasn't. Like many others I am not interested in wine and therefore this remarkable story just doesn't give me any pleasure. For connoisseurs of wine this movie must have been a real joy. It is beautifully filmed and it has a few funny moments. But in the end the viewer is left with the main question (unless you are a chauvinistic French citizen): Who cares?
I might like it more when I watch it with DVD quality though. (still no region 2 release though!).
