Review of Bottle Rocket (1996) by Daniel K — 04 Jan 2009
I'm not a huge Wes Anderson fan and this is not one of my favorites. It is not made or written like a conventional film, which can be good, but here it plays too often as simply uninteresting rather than quirky and unique.
Watching the special features made me think that if he and Tilda Swinton had children they would look pretty freakish. The movie does hit its marks occasionally, but the first act and the ending are not engaging enough to make me really enjoy the picture.
It's always struck me as a bit odd that Criterion chooses to realease films like Armageddon and those of Wes Anderson when there are so many other directors out there far more deserving.
