Review of Bottle Rocket (1996) by Dylon M — 25 Jan 2010
Everyone (or most everyone) has dreamed it before. Committing that one big heist, getting away with it, and living larger on a 75-year -plan. So does Dignan in this 1996 comedy from Wes Anderson. But in this case, the guys just can't cut it.
Even from the first ludicrous robbery of a college bookstore, you see that things wont be going well for these guys. But what a joy it is to watch them do it. I was laughing from the very beginning. Seeing Dignan try to break Anthony out of a voluntary mental hospital is just a sign of things to come.
Wes' directing isn't quite in top from here, (that comes later) but the insanely funny dialogue and very likable characters make this one of my proudest movie moments.
