Review of Bottle Rocket (1996) by Andrew K — 20 Mar 2010
Wes Anderson has been said to be one of the more unique and creative directors of our generation. Now that I have seen none of his movies before I felt I should give him a try. His first movie Bottle Rocket defiantly holds up with the unique and creative name that he has earned.
The movie is about two friends (Owen and Luke Wilson) and their quest to pull off the perfect robbery. The problem is they are not the smartest guys in the world and this results in a series of problems one after the next.
This move works because it is not your normal comedy, it has such a special touch you feel like you are watching something entirely original. It's comedy is defiantly screw ball, something smart people would never do, but when they make there dumb mistakes or carry out their dumb idea, we already know them pretty well so don't question their methods and instead just enjoy the ride.
