Review of Born on the Fourth of July (1989) by Kays V — 02 May 2008
Born on the 4th of July is an interesting movie. The thing that I found most enjoyable about it was how it didn't turn out to be a typical vietnam movie. It's the portrait of an all american teen going to vietnam (Which is actually a really short segment) and the after effects of it on his life.
It's a haunting movie, from the sound of Babies crying that are prominent through the entire movie and the way the veterans jump in the parade scenes. Although it's a powerful movie, it loses power during the mexico scenes.
I know there was a point but I feel that the point could have been shown without the unnecessary 20 minutes before it.
