This is an unbelievable film. of course oliver stone's film presents the subject matter particularly one-sided, but this was one story that was powerful nonetheless. tom cruise delivers a shocking performance, one of the best I have ever seen - his transformation is staggering, as well as his dedication to the role.

cinematically it is a beautifully crafted film - powerfully shot and scored. im usually not a fan of the 'war' genre, but this is undoubtedly the best I have ever seen.
