Great film that I think is highly underrated. One of few Tom Cruise films in which he actually shows some acting ability. Should have won the Academy Award for Best Picture but Oliver Stone got jobbed; oh well.
Stone made up for it by winning the Best Director, which is well deserved. While the book by Ron Kovic is much better, Stone did well in capturing the pain and torture Kovic lived through, from killing one of his own squad members to being paralyzed and losing his legs right in his prime.
Cruise was very good and this was definitely his best acting role. Definitely one of the best films based on the Vietnam War and the protests back home.
