More of an endurance competition than a film, Oliver Stone brilliantly directs this grim drama about the betrayal of the men and women who served in Vietnam and Tom Cruise gives an epic performance as an ever changing, constantly evolving character that reeks of a scarily close realism to many young Americans opinions today. The film leaves you with a notion not easily shaken.
