Review of Born on the Fourth of July (1989) by David E — 16 Feb 2013
Based on Ron Kovic's autobiography of the same name, "Born on the Fourth of July" leaves the viewer with the question: War, What is it good for? Intense acting (especially by Tom Cruise), nightmarish battle sequences, dramatic/sad moments, & sorrowful true story makes me feel sorry for both Ron Kovic & other veterans who took part in the Vietnam War (or any war for that matter).
Director Oliver Stone won his second Oscar for Best Director; one of the greatest films of the 1980s! Nominated for 6 other Oscars including Best Picture (didn't win).
