Review of Born on the Fourth of July (1989) by Jon G — 19 Nov 2010
A rousing piece to go along with Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July features Tom Cruise in his best performance to date. He plays real life veteran Ron Kovic, a once idealistic young patriot who goes to war and comes back a paraplegic.
He goes through a radical change and becomes an activist. A familiar story that is highlighted by some truly powerful performances. Not great, but well worth a look.
