Review of Born into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids (2004) by Pavandeep S — 02 Oct 2008
I find it depressing watching documentaries as a whole and I expected this to be banal and pointless review and yet I have never seen such strong emotional content. Even on photography, I have learnt more here than anywhere else.
The shots of foreground and background and perspective was sublime. My biggest sadness for this film is if ever it will continue to discover what happens to these kids. I found it depressing that only a minority get into schools and injustice is rampant and incongruous as a whole.
Also, the character of Puja intrigues me as there is a sense of deception and regressive superstition that makes me wonder for her future.
