Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Petros T — 30 Aug 2012
Totally unremarkable. It's one of those films that pretend to be game-changing but are not. The cast includes some very good actors who don't deliver as much as you'd expect. The roles are under-played in quality and over-played in intensity, the script is under-written and a bit silly (in the end, all the whores and drug addicts were a nice, big family), the direction is unable to make this genuinely entertaining and even the most profound or poignant moments collapse under their arrogancy.
