Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Brandon V — 13 May 2011
A sprawling epic of sex, drugs, retrogression, and ultimate uncertainty. Paul Thomas Anderson's electric masterpiece never becomes judgmental or condescending, but instead acts as a humble adoration for humanity, even at its most confused and misguided level.
"Boogie Nights" features some of the greatest performances in film history, a witty script, memorable characters, stellar direction, and a soundtrack that just is the icing on the cake. It's flawless filmmaking, deserving of the most respect and praise that could ever be given.
