Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Kelsey G — 21 Oct 2018
Boogie Nights is the work of an auteur. It is hard to imagine a 27 year old making this ensemble cast into an excellent flowing drama set in the pornographic industry of California. But then that kid is Paul Thomas Anderson- one of our current masters of cinema, it shouldn't be surprising.
Mark Whalberg doesn't play too far from his real self in my opinion but it works for him. Ably supported by the likes of William H Macy, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Heather Graham and many more who would become Paul Thomas Anderson regulars Boogie Nights is a movie not to be missed.
