Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Wesley W — 03 May 2014
Such a fine piece of quality filmmaking. Boogie Nights is a movie with an engaging story, extraordinary cast, fantastic writing, brilliant directing, and great cinematography. The characters are so well realized and well written and everybody gives a believable performance.
Paul Thomas Anderson is a master of directing and he has a great method of getting you hooked onto the story and everything else that happens in the movie. This and There Will Be Blood go down as the finest films I have seen from him.
The way the movie is filmed is flawless and the opening shot of the film is breathtaking to watch and so well put together. The movie presents a well told look of the porn industry in the late 70's and early 80's.
This is also a film I could rewatch every year and not get sick of it. Watching this film for a second time I grew to love this even more than the first time watching it. Everything that makes a movie great is in here and in my opinion there is not a single problem that exists within this film and I could not recommend this enough.
