Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Blake P — 31 Aug 2015

4/4.
Smashingly effective study of a group of filmmakers in California in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Strikingly well cast; Walberg is perfect as the kid who dreams of being a star, and Reynolds delivers a powerhouse performance as a well known and respected director. Paul Thomas Anderson creates a vivid, exuberant, gripping, sometimes funny view of the movies not explored yet, and includes one of the most intense scenes ever filmed.
