Review of Boogeyman (2012) by Louis B — 24 Aug 2010
I was surprise to find out that this movie had such a low rating. Of course, it's not a GREAT movie, but a rather good, enjoyable, entertaining one. I love how the psychology of the characters are being developed throughout the movie which gives us many opportunities to interpret the movie in our own way.
Of course, if you're looking for scares, forget about this movie. There is none. The movie is not scary at all. But, it gave me enough action to be entertained. Also, there are two major plot holes that may piss some off.
First of all, the Boogeyman kills the main character's father in the beginning and is then never heard of again for almost 15 years before coming back and killing everyone... for no reason, really.
Then, there's the "closet-traveling" that I never really understood. How could he do that? And more importantly, how come nobody ever found that by accident before? Still, the rest of the movie is pretty entertaining, the cinematography is superb, the directing is great, actors do a so-so job and the music is quite good.
A good rent for people that are in for a movie with a good ambiance, but that never really scares.
