Review of Boo! A Madea Halloween (2016) by Joel H — 20 Oct 2017
Tyler Perry?s Boo! A Madea Halloween is directed and written by Tyler Perry, and it stars Tyler Perry, Cassi Davis, Diamond White, Bella Thorne, Liza Koshy, and Yousef Erakat in a comedy about a daughter of a prosecutor that wants to go to a party with a bunch of college people, even if it means not doing everything that her father tells her to do to the point that Brian (Tyler Perry) brings out Madea (Tyler Perry in drag), Joe (Tyler Perry in old makeup) and the others to watch over his daughter as he got work to do or something like that I don?t know.
See I watched the second one before this, and I?m not going to say about the sequel until I reviewed that film. So I rented this to see how it started, even if I?m not really looking forward to this, and I don?t really know what?s going on from Tyler Perry, but this movie is really bad.
I?ll get to the good stuff as there are some that I can think of. I got some legitimate chuckles out of the film, so at least I didn?t felt 100% miserable throughout it, and I think that Liza Koshy is the only actress that I believe is trying to make something out of a good performance, same with Jimmy Tatro, but it didn?t really focused on him much.
There?s a scene in the end that felt so satisfying to me because a lot of the characters in this are obnoxiously horrible people that seeing a lot of bad things happening to them made me feel really good.
Now that?s all I can think of, so here?s why I hated this movie. The jokes in here are non-stop riffs, and while it?s nice to see they don?t have a melodrama story here, a lot of the jokes aren?t funny, and there are scenes that lasts way longer than it should?ve, which made me want to fast-forward to go to the next scene.
The characters are so annoying and stupid that I don?t care what happens to them, and for the fact that the movie focuses half on it really aggravate me. Other then Liza Koshy and Jimmy Tatro, the acting in this is awful that is either overacting it, or just don?t know how to act, which makes since as some of the actors are Vine stars.
Boo! A Madea Halloween is a terrible film that for the sequel, that one makes this look like a genuinely good movie.
