Review of Bonnie and Clyde (1967) by William B — 01 Jul 2010
"All I Need In This Life Of Sin Is Me And My Girlfriend"-03' Bonnie and Cldye.
Bonnie and Clyde are possibly the greatest couple in film history. They've been used in songs, books and just along the way became a cult to young couples who dream of adventure and a more interesting life.
There life of vioent bank robberies and deadly shoot outs with the police has never dulled their love and affection for each other that is possibly the best defintion of love I can think of.
When everything around you is killed and burned right before your eyes and the world around you is losing it's hope for life, these to outlaws stood strong above it all and stayed together till the very end.
There isn't really much of a story, just a lot of events happening around the idea of this couple robbing banks for a living and along the way they become the most wanted people in the country and have the entire police force itching to rip them to pieces.
But the main symbolism in this film is once again obsession. Obsession to be the baddest people on the planet but also to be good to the regular folks.
But as it's depicted in the film it tears them from their families, their homes but also the last spit of freedom they have left is destroyed because they aren't allowed to be free anymore.
Basically this is one of the films that defined the 60's, so if you haven't watched it...
5/5.
