Review of Bolt (1995) by Antony G — 08 Nov 2011
Entertaining kid flick but short on the laughs. The obligatory funny character makes sure there are laugh out moments & the hamster, Rhino, provides them with gusto & the only memorable moments of this animated film.
Bolt the dog is our main focus & is a huge movie star along side his owner, Penny. But due to tough studio contract small print Penny is not allowed Bolt home. Instead he is forced to live in a world where he is made to believe that the character he plays is actually the real world he lives in & possesses the powers of a superhero dog! That is until he accidentally ends up in New York & with the help of a stray cat & a hamster embarks on a trek across the United States back to Hollywood.
Along the way Bolt is forced to face the fact he is just an ordinary dog & has to face reality that he is just as helpless as the baddies he over powers in his movies.
