Review of Bokeh (2017) by Richard D — 21 Jan 2018
The great premise of the low-budget science fiction movie Bokeh is a young American couple vacationing in Iceland wake up to find the city of Rekjavik, and perhaps the entire island, absolutely empty of people.
Suddenly, it's like Robinson Crusoe, except this time he's equipped with a girlfriend, drivable cars, electricity and refrigerators full of food throughout the city. So, the questions become: What happens next? What does it mean? Can two people be lonely together? I'll warn you that amateur reviewers of this film tend to either give it rave reviews or are very hostile to it.
Those who love it praise the beautiful settings and cinematography, and the haters damn it for its focus on the emotional and spiritual aspects of an apocalyptic event. Of course, I loved it, and while agree parts of it were a little slow, it's only 93 minutes long.
I give it a solid 8/10. Note: It's all in English, and we rented it on iTunes.
