Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Imthenoob — 16 Jan 2019
Malek does a fantastic job but he's not good enough to carry the film on his own. It very much does downplay his sexuality and they certainly do take quite a few "liberties" by twisting what really happen in order to fit a better storytelling narrative, Which is quite annoying and disappointing considering how well known Freddie's story is.
And there really is no sense of drama in this movie. It doesn't come off as emotional or captivating. It can be entertaining enough to sit through but I feel like it just doesn't do Freddie Mercury justice in telling his life story as they really just glance over his upbringing and his rise to fame in face of just short snippets of their famous songs.
