Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Susan S — 18 Nov 2018
Ironic. Queen faced biting reviews when the title song came out but was loved then and now by millions. Déjà vu. This movie is fabulous just like Freddie. What this is, is celebration of Freddie and his music.
It is not a condemnation of his sexuality nor is it the story of a gay activist. Freddy wasn't that. Whether Freddie. Was gay or bisexual misses the point. He was complicated. Those of us who remember and followed the band can tell you you that while he was very flamboyant he was not announcing this things in words.
It was a very different time and while his fans accepted him come what may, general society would not. Enjoy the movie and don't try to make it what it is not. Ive seen it four times so far. Freddie, we still love you.
Rami, you deserve Oscar.
